Basic Fluffy Whole Wheat Pancakes
An easy every-day pancake recipe that is nutritious and delicious!

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 egg
  1. mix dry ingredients in a medium bowl
  2. whisk wet ingredients (egg, buttermilk and melted butter) together in a medium bowl
  3. carefully fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined
  4. let the pancake batter rest for a few minutes
  5. heat a skillet to medium heat (I use my enameled Le Creuset Braiser)
  6. plop about 2 tsp of butter in pan, if it sizzles add batter
  7. cook until bubbles form in batter and pop, about 2-3 minutes
  8. flip and cook for another minute until pancake is cooked through
  9. serve hot
