If you haven’t noticed on my Instagram and Facebook feeds, I have started gathering and assembling items for my family’s July birthday celebration! We have a lot of birthdays that month: dad, toddler and baby. Instead of three separate parties, we just have one big one. I am keeping the theme/concept of the party a secret for now. You might be able to get an idea as I complete projects, but I am sure it will be a surprise when it is revealed this July. So long to wait!
The most important thing I have learned as a parent is EVERYTHING takes waaaaaay longer than you anticipate when you have children. It may seem crazy I am completing such an easy task this far ahead, but I think any parent can understand. Now, how to make sure my children don’t destroy my completed project before July…
In the party venue, there is a beautiful large bar where the food will be served. I love it, but need something to create different heights. Stacks of books are the solution. I have a somewhat scholastic theme going on for the food table, so incorporating books is perfect. To keep my design cohesive and to be sure the books don’t overshadow some of the main elements, I covered them all in gold paper. You could cover books in a million different colors and patterns to fit your party. What about an ABC party, a Reading Rainbow inspired party, a bookworm party, a fairytale party, a bedtime books for children inspired baby shower, etc… Books and children go together like peanut butter and jelly. There are a million parties where this little trick would create a cute and functional addition to your decor.
I am sure you remember covering books from grade school. In case you have forgotten, below is a refresher.
